Finance foundation. Transformation perspective. Execution discipline.

Portrait of Shanka Wickramasinghe

A finance professional who leads transformation.

Shanka's career began in accounting and finance, and he brings a strong foundation in accounting, FP&A, digital transformation, program leadership and project management. He spent more than a decade in finance in Canada, moving through financial reporting, financial planning, controllership and enterprise performance management. From there he went on to lead large, complex finance system implementations in the United States.

Along the way he developed particular depth in Oracle EPM and ERP. He has led initiatives at project, program, functional and portfolio level for global enterprises and private equity-backed organizations, across planning, financial consolidation and close, profitability and cost management, enterprise data management, reconciliation and reporting.

That background shapes how he approaches AI. He doesn't see it as an isolated technology initiative. He treats it as business transformation that needs clear value, redesigned processes, accountable ownership, workforce adoption, governance and disciplined execution. When an AI system produces a number, the questions a finance leader asks still apply. Who owns it? Can it be traced to source? What happens when it is wrong?

He founded EkaC Global Consulting to help leadership teams close the gap between strategy and execution, particularly where finance, enterprise technology and AI-enabled operating models intersect. You can see examples in Selected Transformations. He is also the architect of the AI Transformation Decision System, which turns that discipline into a repeatable executive diagnostic.

Perspective

What he believes about transformation.

It's rarely the technology.

When a finance system rollout stalls, the cause is usually the approach: adoption, alignment and ownership, not the platform or the budget.

AI means more judgment, not less.

An answer that looks polished and is 95% right still needs someone who can find the other 5%. Accounting knowledge and governance matter more, not less.

Measure whether the business got better.

Success is not that the implementation went live. It's that decisions improved and the value can be shown.
